The first meetings with Ryan and Kandi were strategically placed around long work days and driving the kids to sporting events. Their life paralleled mine, so I immediately understood that planning a project of this scale would need to fit into small windows of time.
The goal was to have a space that embraced their lifestyle…and Kandi’s wish list 🙂
Out came the clippings from magazines…yes kids, some people weren’t fully engaged with pinterest, yet. We could see that this idea was something that Kandi had been dreaming about for quite some time.
“They listened to me and were so patient.”
The family is the focus of this project. The home sits on a golf course and has a wonderful view. The new space needed to allow the family to be outside, doing the things they love; without compromising the view.
The outdoor kitchen makes for great food. The TV over the fireplace is the perfect spot to watch a ball game or tennis match together. Hopefully, Ryan and Kandi occasionally get a chance to sit in front of the fire after the kids are in bed. (If they can stay awake that long.) Lastly, the large table is perfect for a meal together with friends.
The lighting, patio, and planting tops it off. The pictures speak of the beauty of the space better than we can say with words. We are thankful to have Ryan and Kandi as part of the Nature’s Expressions family. Seeing how this project changed the way they “do family” is a blessing to us. Our work becomes more than just building stuff. Our work becomes meaningful.
In the end, it turned out just like the picture from the magazine…
A few words from Ryan….
“The patio has quickly become our favorite spot.”
“You guys certainly did a great job and we have been very pleased with all aspects of the project.
We started working with you guys more than a year before the actual construction began, and we looked at many many different design possibilities, because we wanted to make sure we got exactly what we envisioned. I think that process helped us come up with an even better result in the end. The project turned out better than we had hoped.
The wonderful space just draws us outside. The patio has quickly become the favorite spot for our entire family including our Yorkie Poo, Winston. We enjoy eating meals out there, watching the game or a movie on the television, and just relaxing with family and friends. The high vaulted ceiling/roof allows us to enjoy the space even when it’s raining and still retain that feeling of “the great outdoors.” We have been able to use the outdoor kitchen almost year-round taking advantage of any milder days during the winter.”
